1. Who controls your data

No Joke File is responsible for the personal data processed through the No Joke File service, unless another role is stated. You can contact us about privacy matters at support@nojokefile.com.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the service, we may collect account details such as name and email address; subscription and billing status; sender and recipient email addresses; transfer metadata such as file names, size, expiry and download events; files submitted for transfer, conversion or extraction; support communications; consent choices; and technical/security data such as IP address, browser, device information and event logs.

3. How we use information

We use personal data to create and secure accounts, provide file transfers and document tools, deliver transfer notifications, process subscriptions, measure plan usage, prevent abuse and malware, troubleshoot the service, respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations and improve service reliability.

4. Our lawful bases

Where UK GDPR applies, our lawful bases may include performance of a contract when we provide a requested service or paid subscription; legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving and preventing abuse of the service; compliance with legal obligations; and consent where consent is required, such as for optional analytics or marketing.

5. Files and document content

Files may contain personal or confidential information chosen by the user. We process file content only as needed to provide the requested transfer, conversion, extraction, security or abuse-prevention function. No Joke File is designed for temporary processing rather than permanent storage.

6. Service providers

We use or plan to use specialist processors to run the service. Depending on the feature, these include Base44 for the application platform and account/data services, Cloudflare for DNS/security and R2 object storage, Stripe for payment processing, Resend for transactional email, and CloudConvert or another specialist document-processing provider for selected conversions. Providers only receive data necessary for their role and are subject to their own security and data-protection obligations.

7. Payments

We do not intend to store full payment-card details. Stripe processes payment information and returns subscription/customer identifiers and payment status needed to manage your account.

8. Retention and deletion

Transfer files are retained only for the period shown for the relevant plan or function and are then scheduled for deletion. Conversion and extraction files will use short download windows. Account, billing, security and transaction records may be kept for longer where needed for contractual, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute or legal purposes.

9. International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we will rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum or another lawful transfer mechanism.

10. Security

We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data. Our planned transfer architecture uses HTTPS, private object storage, short-lived signed upload/download permissions, access controls, automatic expiry, rate limiting and security logging. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

11. Your UK data-protection rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data, object to certain processing, obtain portable data and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

12. Cookies and similar technology

Essential technology may be used for authentication, security, session management and service operation. Optional analytics or marketing cookies will not be enabled unless the required choice or consent has been obtained. Your cookie choice is stored so the site can remember it.

13. Children

No Joke File is not designed as a service for children to create accounts independently. Users must have the legal capacity required to agree to our Terms or use the service with any permission required by law.

14. Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a privacy concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data-protection rights have been infringed.

15. Contact

Privacy enquiries and data-rights requests can be sent to support@nojokefile.com.
